The residents and staff of a Barrow care home are delighted to have received a card from Prince Harry and his bride Meghan thanking them for the kind wishes they sent ahead of the royal wedding.
Ostley House residents created a hand-made wedding card for the royal couple and put their individual messages inside the card. During an activity session the residents decorated the card with a floral design and then staff sent the card off.
Everyone was shocked when a regal thank you card arrived at the Abbey Road care home from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The thank you card features a stunning black and white photograph of the happy couple on their big day.
Inside the card reads: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did.
“It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”
Annmarie Taylor, administrator at Ostley House, said: “We were over the moon to receive the thank you card. The residents are so pleased. It was so nice for the residents’ card to be acknowledged. We didn’t think we would get a card back.
“One resident, who read the card out to others, said ‘isn’t that nice’.”
The royal wedding day itself had been a big occasion at the care home with everyone watching the event on TV and enjoying a tea party.
Mrs Taylor said: “There was a lot of excitement here about the royal wedding, we had bunting up, we had flags, and we had a tea party and a wedding cake.
“Everyone thought Prince Harry looked very handsome and Meghan looked very beautiful.”
The care home has had some royal visitors in the past, including Princess Michael of Kent.
